Bio

Dr Aravindan Veiraiah is the Director of the National Poisons Information Service Edinburgh, and a Consultant in Acute Medicine and Toxicology at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.

Dr Veiraiah is a Scottish Quality and Safety Fellow with a key role in maintaining and editing Toxbase, the online clinical resource provided by the NPIS.

He has provided clinical toxicology care directly to patients in in the Emergency Department , Intensive Care Unit and a dedicated poisons ward, and is  part of the 24/7 NPIS telephone enquiry service. As well as collaborating with UK Health Security Agency (HSA) in the management of some evolving poisons scenarios .

Dr  Veiraiah's appointment as a member of the COT expires on 31st March 2028.
